Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is located in Visakhapatnam surrounded by the Kambalakonda Reserve forest. The zoo is around 10-kilometer distance from Vizag railway station, can be reached by auto or taxi. Buses are also operated by the APSRTC and the Tourist Department from RTC Complex to Indira Gandhi Zoological Park. Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is the largest zoo in Visakhapatnam and the third largest zoological park in India. The zoo was opened to the public in the year 19 May 1977.The zoo is spread over an area of 625 acres in between the Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary of Eastern Ghats.

Indira Gandhi Zoological Park opens through out the year except it closes on every Monday. The park opens for visitors from 9 am to 5 pm as per Indian Standard Time. Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is the home of around eight hundred animals of eighty species including birds and mammals. The zoo receives around 5 lacs visitors per annum . There are different rates applied to visit the zoo. For an adult, the admission charges are Rs.10/- , for children it is Rs. 5/- and for entry of car with 5 people the admission charge is Rs.200/- per vehicle. If you are taking video camera Rs.75/- is charged and for still camera Rs. 10/- is charged.

In the mamal section, you will find various kinds common langur, Sacred Baboons, Olive Baboons , Mandrills and Rhesus Monkeys.
